Petaling Jaya · push notification analytics

The open rate is not the story. We sit with the rest of it.

Web Lighthouse is a small practice that reviews how app teams in Malaysia send, tag, and interpret push notifications. We work from your existing logs, copies, and calendars — then write what the figures can and cannot support before the next send.

No product to log into. You leave with a bound set of findings, a readout conversation, and a list of measurement habits to keep or drop.

Readouts happen at a table in Petaling Jaya or over a scheduled call — paper in the middle, not a live control panel.

What you can actually commission

Most clients ask us to look at a live notification programme: the messages already going out, the events already captured, and the weekly slides already shown to a lead. We do not take over sending.

Event-naming workshop

A half-day workshop that forces delivered, opened, and converted to mean the same thing to copywriters, analysts, and engineers.

Push notification programme review

A five-week written review of how your app currently counts, names, and reports push notification analytics — including what the figures cannot honestly support.

A week of sends, read without theatre

We ask for a sample of copies, the naming used for events such as delivered, opened, dismissed, and converted, and the last two months of send calendars. If Android and iOS are counted as one pile, we say so. If a “conversion” is really a home-screen open, we say that too.

Malaysian festival calendars, dual-language copies, and quiet hours after 10 p.m. MYT show up in the work because they change who is awake to tap a message — not because they look impressive in a slide.

Walk through how a review runs

“They made us split Raya weekend sends from ordinary Tuesdays. The combined open rate we had been quoting in board papers was not a number anyone should have been defending.”

— Lina Khoo, lifecycle lead, retail app based in PJ

When two languages share one event name

English and Bahasa Malaysia copies often collapse into a single “campaign_open” row. That convenience is how push notification analytics lose the language that actually got tapped.

Why a Raya open rate is not a Tuesday open rate

Festival weeks change who is awake, whose family shares a phone, and which messages the OS stacks. Combining them with ordinary Tuesdays makes push notification analytics look calmer than the lock screen was.
